ANXIETY: And What To Do With It

Many of us couldn’t make it yesterday so I thought I would reproduce what we did so that maybe our wider community can reflect on it on their own and maybe contribute their thoughts.

There is a command which is so important that it is essentially repeated in both the Old and New Testament

READING

Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you” Psalm 55:22 NIV

1 Peter 5:7

7 God cares for you, so turn all your worries over to him. CEV

7Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns), on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. Amp Bible

7 Give all your worries and cares to Him, for he cares about you. NLT

7 Leave all your worries with Him, because he cares for you. GNB

7 Cast all your anxiety on Him because he cares for you.

REFLECTION

Read over the passage several times,

1.Underline the word that struck you most. Why did it speak to you?

2. Why do you think Peter wrote these words? Right now is there anything that is happening in your life that makes you doubt God cares for you?

3. When something hard is happening in your life which do you find it harder to do, believe God cares or give God your cares?

4. This passage was written to be read and shared in a community. If you could share this verse with one other person today who would it be?

5. In practical terms how do we as individuals and as a community obey this command? How do we create an ethos that encourages people to trust that God cares and encourages us to trust God with our cares?
