TOP of the Theological Pops

Noted biblical scholar NT Wright sent shockwaves through the academic world by releasing a You Tube clip of him doing cover versions of several Bob Dylan hits. This got me thinking about what cover versions other contemporary and historical Christian figures might do. Here are my suggestions, lets see what others we can collectively come up with

John Piper would be perfect for a cover of Doris Day’s “Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)”

Harold Campings cover version would have to be Europe’s “The Final Countdown”

Mark Driscoll doing the Weather Girl’s “Its Reigning Men!” seem obvious

Rick Warren does Eddie Cochran’s “3 Steps To Heaven” in place of his Sunday sermon, or as his Sunday sermon

John Calvin could well have sung Deep Purple’s “Burn” as Servetus, well eh, you know, burned.

Roger Olson’s obvious “choice” would be “Your Decision” by Alice in Chains

Perhaps NT Wright could also do a wee version of Justin Timberlake’s “Justified” album

Rudolf Bultmann in light of his opinion on the Gospels could sing the number from the musical Show Boat Make Believe

Joel Osteen could sing I H A P P Y, I Know I am, I am sure I am, I am H A P P Y or If You’re Happy And You Know It

I can envisage Brian McLaren rocking out German metal band The Scorpions ditty Does Anyone Know?

so what are your contributions?
