Missional Church: Picture It Like This

20130130-123008.jpg

My attempt to express my current thinking on church visually. A couple of points

God’s people exist now as
BOTH
Called & Sent people
which involves
Gathering with Jesus for teaching, worship, fellowship etc
AND
Going with Jesus in mission

The church’s mission has both an “attractional” dimension and an “incarnational” but since Jesus and Pentecost the incarnational, going dimension should predominate.

The problem is that the contemporary church largely focuses its energy, money, focus on the “gathering, attractional” dimension rather than the “going, incarnational” dimension of missiology and ecclesiology and so ends embodying and expressing the OT understanding of what it means to be and live as God’s people, rather than the NT’s understanding.
