HOW TO BE MORE SUCCESSFUL

I have been thinking a lot about success recently. I have been pondering questions like,

What is success?

How do I become successful?

How would other people know if I was successful?

Reading the New Testament this morning I think I may have found the simplest and yet most challenging answer to my question, here it is

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved,”

 2 Tim 2:15

According to God’s Word success means doing everything we can, so that everything we do, will meet with God’s approval.

Success for the Christian in any situation is simply doing what God would approve of.

That is so liberating.

 I often work hard because I think I need the approval of other people. I listen to some leadership gurus and work towards doing things that would get their approval.

Paul says in contrast, whatever else you do in life, in each situation think about what God would approve of and do everything you can, to do that.

As I said, that’s simple but profoundly challenging.

We are promised if we live for God’s approval, we will be “a worker who does not need to be ashamed.” 2 Tim 2:15 When we live for God’s approval first and foremost, we will never need to be embarrassed by what we do.

So next time you have a big decision to make, ask yourself “What would God approve of me doing?” if you do it you will be successful in the eyes of the only one who ultimately matters.
