For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, BUT UNDER GRACE. Romans 6:14
I don’t really like needles and would rather avoid pain so I am unlikely ever to get a tattoo. However hypothetically if I were to get a tattoo I would have two words tattooed somewhere I would constantly see them.
Those words would be
UNDER GRACE
I need to be constantly reminded that I live under grace because I constantly need grace.
I was glad I was at home last week with just Ava, our poodle in the house because I read something that so resonated with my soul that almost involuntarily, I blurted out a loud AMEN. Ava seemed bemused by my shout but I was blessed by what I had read. It was a quote by a pastor called Kyle Idelman.
No sin is so great, no bitterness is so deep that God’s grace cannot transform your heart and rewrite your story.
Grace is greater. Greater than my failures. Greater than my sin. Greater than my inadequacies and hang-ups.
This is the essence of the Gospel, because grace is greater, we can’t earn our way into God’s presence and can’t sin our way out of it either.
Grace means that God can never love me more or love me less than when I was either at my worst or best.
I don’t know about you, but I need to be constantly reminded that GRACE IS GREATER. So because I am a bit squeamish I won’t have UNDER GRACE tattooed but I have written in my bible so I see it every day.
How will you be reminded that you are UNDER GRACE and that that GRACE IS GREATER because I suspect like me, you do need to be reminded too.
