This Sunday we are going to be looking at what Ephesians 4 tells us about the role of Christian community in spiritual maturity. We will be meeting in our home churches and because of the format I won’t be able to look in depth at some of the very important things that Paul says in the first half of this chapter about the church and ministry in the church.

However this material is so important to our understanding and experiencing of the church that I didn’t want us to not engage with it either. Just about a year ago at my Commissioning Service I preached on this passage focusing on the section that we won’t be looking at in the depth this Sunday. I thought I would post the video of the talk and that it might provide a bit of background and context for us as we look at what the verses that follow on from it say about what it means to be the church and why we need the church.
